What is El Mirage?

El Mirage dry lake bed has been home to Land Speed Racing (LSR) for more than half a century. It is located just 30 miles east of a growing high desert community known as the Antelope Valley. Back when Land Speed Racing was young, a group of men that had been racing on the dry lakes for several years, decided to incorporate and create a new racing organization which would enforce safety procedures and promote the sport. Hence the birth of the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA).

FACTS ABOUT RACING AT EL MIRAGE DRY LAKE 

• Each entry MUST be a member of one of the SCTA clubs. (View) OR run as a GUEST ONLY
• Each entry must register their vehicle and pass vehicle safety inspection (Car "Sample" Inspection Form - View/Download) - (Bike Sample Inspection Form - View/Download) - These are not accepted in Inspection - These are SAMPLES and you must fill out our triplicate form at the event.
• Each vehicle driver must fill out a Drivers Medical Form. 
• Each worker, entrant, crew member and guest MUST sign the insurance waiver (at registration trailer) and purchase an arm band in order to be on the starting line or the surrounding area including the inspection area. 
• Each SCTA club member can find the rules and regulations for racing at El Mirage in the El Mirage Procedures (See El Mirage Documents)
• Each new driver must go through Rookie Orientation before they can drive a vehicle on the race course.  (See El Mirage Documents)
• In order to get a CERTIFIED record, each vehicle must run faster than the existing record OR faster than the minimum speed for each class. (See El Mirage Procedures for speed minimums)
