From The Editor:

SpeedWeek gave us so much to be thankful for this year: three courses, plenty of runs, great people, and despite the heat—pretty darn good weather. Most importantly, we all traveled to and from the salt safely. That is something I never take for granted. Dave Brant III and Red Stauffer’s recoveries may be the best SpeedWeek news.

On a personal note, receiving the Bob Higbee Award meant more to me than I can put into words. Jim Jensen entrusted me with some of Bob’s personal items, and I feel a connection that makes this honor very meaningful.

We lose so many of our landspeed heroes, and another has passed this week. Russ Eyres will be greatly missed, but I like to think he’s already swapping stories with the legends who went before him.

Someone wise once said to me, “Sometimes you find yourself where you are… simply because you said yes.” What a journey life can be.
